Tappits rattling

Just wondering about weather my 2001 model b2600 petrol has tappits or hydraulic lifters As they are rattling and about the white smoke it's making apon starting. Do I need to replace the head gasket too

A block test will confirm if the head gssket is gone, the kit is available at parts stores. You have hydraulic lifters check oil pressure.
