Car Troubles, Need to Know Possible Causes:
2001 Hyundai Elantra (Automatic)
1. First started having trouble switching gears. I would step on the gas and the RPM would soar but the car wouldn't speed up. Every time it did that the check engine light would come on.
2. Finally, the heater went out, power steering? froze (I had to put every muscle into turning the wheel to make a turn), break pedals froze, everything went out at the same time within a minute and the car just shut off. Also, something under the hood started smoking. I thought it was a complete goner so it was much to my surprise when it actually started a few days later.
