The car runs great other than the trans giving me problems

When I drive my car for 30 to 40 minute my trans stay stuck on a high gear and let it cool down then its starts to work fine what do I need to do to fix the problem?

Do you have a check engine light and last tune-up done?

Could be a problem with the throttle and vehicle speed sensor these 2 tells the computer about the throttle and governor pressures-Best just bring it in and have it pressure tested to find out ore what's going on.
