What could a severe grinding noise be coming from the front passenger wheel

When I apply the brakes it stops, any ideas? Very loud, just replaced the wheel bearing-inspected the bake pads and they appear brand new-sounds just like when the brake pads are worn down and scrapping on the rotor-but there is plenty of clearance in this case-any ideas helpful

Well, I have an Elantra & was experiencing a similar grinding noise from the front wheel section. The service guy identified it to be coming from the brake caliper which was faulty. I'm not exactly sure if he just greased it OR changed the caliper but that solved my problem. I never experienced the noise after that.
