2001 Honda Civic Bought Car Marin Infiniti Told By Mechanic That Had Faulty

I bought the car from Marin Infiniti- I was told by my mechanic that it had a "faulty intake bearing". What is the result of a faulty intake bearing if it is NOT fixed?
It is worse in first gear and gradually gets less noisy in 3-5th gear but it definitely has a noise that does NOT sound good.
