2001 Ford Laser Battery light then over heating

Hey I drove home from the gym and my car was fine. Start my car 10 minutes later and the battery light came on and the temperature gage started rising. Now my car over heats every time I drive what could the problem be? Please help

Check the radiator for cold spots if you have any then the rad is bad, then test coolant system for leaks, internal/external, cold be a head gasket also could be thermostat. Normally a thermostat bad will overheat with in 2 minutes

Check your battery for condition and load test inu.S most auto parts stores or tire stores do this for free. Then check chargings sytem for output
