My car won't always let me put it into gear when i start it.
This is a problem that happens every once in a while. I start the car, and it won't go let me put it into gear. I turn it off, restart it, and it will work.

have your shift interlock system checked out

I have the same problem, thou mine is that I've to leave my car running for more than 5 mins then I start messing with shifting gears, sometimes it takes more than 10mins to get it in 1st gear.
