Having a problem with the glow plug relay on 01 powerstroke. There are two trigger wires going to it, one is on all the time the truck is running causing the battery to drain. One trigger wire is red and the other wire is red/orange. Can I get a wiring diagram for it?

I have attached wiring schematics for you to review. My concern is they are very detailed and may be hard to read. The second picture has the glow plug relay info and I see the wires you are refering to because I can enlarge the schematic. If you are unable to and can't read it, let me know and I can tell you where everything is going.

From what I see, there is a black/orange wire that runs from a fuseable link (hot all times)to the glow plug relay (it also powers the intake air heater when the relay is actuated). From what I can see, it looks like the relay itself may be bad and allowing power to continue to both relays. NOTE: The black/orange wire is the power supply. Without being there, my guess is you are seeing a constant drain from the red wire. However, either relay that I mentioned could cause that problem. From what I can see from the schematic, they are the same type relay. Remove one at a time to see if the drain stops. If it does, try another relay of the same part number to see if the draw stops.

Let me know if you have other questions. I hope this helps, but it is hard to explaine a schematic via the internet.

Joe

Thanks for the diagram, the problem was with the relay I bought on ebay, it was externally grounded. The grounding signal is what completes the circuit to throw the solenoid. I got one for about $80 and It works fine. Thanks!

Great! I had a feeling that was it. Were you able to read the schematics or were they too small?

The diagrams were a little small, but I could still see it. Normally those relays are activated with one wire, But with the diagram I soon found out It was being fed both + and - wires. Thanks
