Check the transmission isolator switch, also called a range switch, this is the device that only allows you to start an auto in Park and neutral, these switches can and do fail.

truck is a laramie 1500 with a 5.2 liter engine where is the the isolator switch located at year is 2001 ?

replaced that switch still doing the same. where is the park/neutral position switch located at ?

Check ignition switch and loom for any problem, failing that, check starter.
