However, this engine does not use a knock sensor. It calculates if the engine is knocking based on crank sensor acceleration and intake temp info.

If you are getting spark knock then that can be caused by a number of different issue and most commonly caused by poor fuel quality.

I would suggest putting high test in the tank and then a bottle of octane booster and see if it goes away. If so then you have a fuel issue that may be causing issues in the injectors.
