When I turn on my ac, the rpm's slow way down to approximately 700-800. My ac compressor is extremely noisy when at idle. The noise goes away if I accelerate to about 1000 rpm. The belt is good. Any ideas what may be the problem?

could be internal in the compressor. get it checked by a shop to verify. make sure the mountings are tight and all there.

Would the iac have anything to do with this? Would it help to remove and clean it or replace it?
