When you say the brakes go out, does the pedal go to the floor or just get hard to push?

What do you mean by "go out"? The pedal can be pushed to the floor? The pedal is high and firm but pressing it doesn't stop the truck? What kind of noise? Do you have anti-lock brakes?

If the ABS light is coming on, have the computer scanned to identify the trouble code. That will direct you to the problem.
