How to get at the dash bulbs

2001 Cadillac Catera -- the fuel guage light is out

Do I have to remove the dash to get at the lights? If so, how do I remove it?

You have to remove cluster, here is the verbal portion of the procedure.

Instrument Cluster Replacement

Removal Procedure

Remove the center air deflectors.

Remove the screws from the center air deflector housing.
Remove the center air deflector housing.

Rotate the steering wheel to expose the screw location on the upper steering column cover.
Remove the screw cover and the screw from the left side of the upper steering column cover.
Rotate the steering wheel to expose the right side of the cover.
Remove the screw cover and the screw from the right side of the upper steering column cover.
Remove the upper column cover from the steering column.

Remove the screw from the upper column cover collar. This screw also retains the bottom of the instrument cluster.
Remove the collar from the upper column.
Remove the screw from the right side of the instrument cluster.

Dislodge the right side of the instrument cluster.
Remove the wiring harness connector (1) from the right side of the cluster (2).
Slide the cluster to the right enough to allow the left side of the cluster to clear the left vent housing.
Remove the wiring harness connector from the left side of the cluster.
Gently remove the cluster out of the mounting location.
Installation Procedure

Install the cluster into the mounting position by inserting the left side of the cluster into the left vent housing.
Install the wiring harness connector to the left side of the cluster.
Install the wiring harness connector (1) to the cluster (2).
Install the seat cluster in the carrier.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

Install the screw to the right side of the instrument cluster.
Tighten the screw to 2 Nm (18 lb in).

Install the collar to the upper column.
Install the collar screw to the collar.
Tighten the screw to 2 Nm (18 lb in).

Install the upper column cover to the steering column.
Rotate the steering wheel to expose the right side of the upper steering column cover.
Install the right screw to the column cover.
Tighten the screw to 2 Nm (18 lb in).

Install the right screw cover to the upper steering column cover.
Rotate the steering wheel to expose the left cover screw location.
Install the left screw to the column cover.
Tighten the screw to 2 Nm (18 lb in).

Install the left screw plug steering column cover.

Install the center air deflector housing.
Install the screws to the center air deflector housing.

Install the center air deflectors.
