My 85 yr old aunt called last night. Her battery went dead, she had it charged and took it and had a new battery installed. Her presets were all erased, and her fuel gauge no longer works. I explained how Keep Alive Memory works if external battery is used, but she also says this problem with the fuel gauge happened last time she had a battery issue, and a local shop charged her $80 to fix the fuel gauge problem.
My question, is there a fuse or an issue with the fuel gauge when the battery dies. Common sense tells me she got ripped off the first time. She lives in Wisconsin and I am 200 miles south.

SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYSTEM TESTS. If all features are okay, go to next step.

Sorry, but your response does not pertain to the BUICK system, therefore is of no help.
