WHAT WOULD MAKE MY VW PASSATT'S OIL PRESSURE STAY HIGH
2000 Volkswagen Passat • 145,000 miles
It seems to run fine but the oil pressure stays high?
Oil pump check valve stuck closed. make sure the sender unit is sending the correct signal.
Is that expensive to fix?
Depends on whats wrong. if the sender is wrong, no. if the pump needs to be replaced then yes. the failure is most likely from sludge in the pump and the engine will have to be completely flushed of all sludge so it does not happen again.
I thought vw paid 4 it since there was a recall or something about the sludge?? is that true??
Sludge is your responsibility to change the oil at the intervals required by te manufacturer.
Ok Im trying to find out if the car is worth 1500$ before I buy it it only has 150000 miles on it & its had alot of new parts put on it but I got stuck w a jetta before thats in need of timing belts & htey are super expensive 2 replace so I was told so idk if the passat's worth it whats you'r opinion?
Cant tell without seeing it and examing it. it would be worth your while to take it somewhere nad have them evaluate it for you. it would be the best 50 bucks you ever spent on a car.
Ok Thanks so much for your time I truely apreciate it!!
Thanks I'll keep you posted lol
