Does a 2000 VW Golf 2.0, non-turbo, non-diesel have a limp mode feature?

Runs fine after start up for about 30 seconds and then it loses power and won't go over 3000-3500 RPMs.

Check for exhaust system restriction and also check if the transmission is slipping

Scan the ECM. It does have a limp mode if a few critical sensors have failed. It will throw it into limp mode.

Scan it and post the codes, I'll tell you what you have to replace.
