VW LEAKS FLUID WHEN POURING IT INTO MANUAL TRANSMISSION

2000 Volkswagen Cabriolet • 89,000 miles

I took the car for an oil change, asked the tech to check the manual transmission fluid also, they try changing the transmission fluid but when pouring in the new fluid it started to leak between the engine and transmission. It would not hold the fluid in the transmission.

I know this is an old post. But in case someone else is reading
this. The above picture is of the wrong transmission.

The cabrio transmission is a 020 tranny.

Attached is a correct image. The fill/check hole is at the right.

It sounds like they filled the tranny through the timing plug hole.

Transmission fluid then contaminated the clutch assembly.
