My check engine light is on. I took it to advance auto to see what was wrong. I found out it was the idle air control valve. Can this part be cleaned?
Idle goes up and down. Stalls on me sometimes. Need it to be cleaned or replaced to pass inspection.

If you are going to service the IACV yourself, it probably needs replacement. I say this because since it came back in a trouble code, it probably has a bad solenoid and is not chnaging the port closing/opening ocrrectly. It may need the ports that it opens/closes cleaned, but since it threw a code the solenoid is bad and the unit needs replacement.
