When you raise it above idle does it smooth out? Also does the cooling fan all the time at idle but shuts off when you raise the rpms up?

If it's only at idle it's sounding like a cam timing issue the first one I have ever seen like that miss fired really bad at idle and when you raised the rpms the miss fire would smooth out. Come to find out the timing jumped and the intake cam timing had advanced two teeth. If you want we go thru and check compression etc or dive in and take off the valve cover and check the timing. Which I really think it is those early 2.2L engine's are known for timing chain issue's. So which would you like to do?
