The check traction light could mean that the controller sees a problem at that time. Have it scanned for codes to see if it has stored anything in the memory

on my 2000 Lincoln Towncar the "Check Trac" lights comes on while I'm driving and then the temperature needle starts to rise and fall. The car shuts off and I have to pull over to the side, place it in park and then restart.

I haven't been able to get a accurate diagnosis and need some help.

I have the same problem with my 2000 Lincoln, 75,000 miles.
After checking tiires, new fuel pump, full engine service (oil, filters, etc.) new sensor in computer and disableling Trac Lite, Still not diagnosed or fixed.
But, try this: When first starting engine, accelerate the gas pedal a little. I started keeping track of the miles between incidents, approx. 9-20 miles. Since I started doing this, I now have gone 80 miles without it dying. Did I find a remedy? Don't know.

V8 two wheel drive automatic 62,200 miles.

My "check trac" light is coming on. Prior to the light coming on, my vehicle appears to skip and the temperature gauge drops to cold. When I turn the trac system off, the vehicle runs fine. I took the vehicle to the dealership and of course, it cost me $137.00 just to give three codes. The dealership stated, additional testing was needed at the cost of $300.00 more, not including the repair cost. The dealership did perform a traction system diagnosis. They retrieved three codes. C1233, C1234, and C1236. Can someone tell me what the codes mean? if they have had the same problem? And how to correct the problem?

We are having the same problem, and we could not get a reading on the codes. It seems to come and go, and very upsetting because no one knows what the problem is. We have had four different service people look at it. We have about 80,000 mile on it, we also have our question posted here. Good luck. Gary

C1233 No left wheel speed signal.
C1234 No right front wheel speed signal.

C1236 No LR wheel speed signal.
Check wiring and sensors.

check the wiring around the sensors.

Why does my car dash lights go off trac light and abs light come on when car is running what do i need to replace or fix

The ABS module is recognizing a malfunction that may be intermittent and now you need to have the ABS module read for stored codes.

I know this is a older post but I had the exact same problem with the trac light coming on and the temperature gauge would drop then the car would hesitate and would have to pull over and cut the car off and cut it back on then it would run good for a while until I hit a bump and it would do it again. I changed all 8 coil packs and plugs, cleaned the wheel speed sensors but it kept doing that same thing. I remember reading a post in another forum about the wires near the muffler behind the rear passenger tire and sure enough the harness that holds the 3 wires had came loose and 2 off the wires had been hitting the muffle and melted to expose the wire. I separated all 3 and retaped each separately then ran some zip ties around the harness through the gas tank supports which kept it away from the the muffler. This worked like a charm. Even took it on a real bumpy road with no problem. I guess when the exposed wires hit the muffler after hitting a bump it would cause a short.
