JEEP WRANGLER ALTERNATOR PROBLEM

2000 Jeep Wrangler • 205,000 miles

The volt gauge drops to zero after it runs for a few min. Replaced the battery, it gad weak cell. Looked good then the volt gauge droped to zer. Could the voltage regulator be getting hot and kicking out. If so where is it

That's typical of worn brushes inside the alternator. It will stop working intermittently, and eventually it will stop completely. Measure the battery voltage while the engine is running and the problem is occurring. It is supposed to be between 13.75 and 14.75 volts. If it is low, measure the voltages on the two smaller wires on the back of the alternator.
