Have records and invoices from dealership with last owner that the primary and secondary tensioners and chains were replaced. Have a semi loud ticking noise from the middle of the engine driver side. Have had other cars over the years that developed lifter issues with a similar tick, constant at any rpm, both cold and hot. My other xj8 had a similar tick but originated from the tensioners and timing chain area. Any idea. Is this a lifter? If so from what I understand from forums only way to fix is to shim. Any alternatives? Thanks

Seems like it could be a valve, however when the tensioners were replaced were they upgraded to metal or were new plastic ones put in? If they were not upgraded they could still fail.
