my car keeps dying on me and i have put a new battery on it but all the lights go off on dash board and it dies on me

Did you have the old battery tested? Did they test the charging system too? The battery just starts the engine. After that the generator keeps it charged and runs the electrical stuff on the car.
A quick test to see if the generator is working is to measure battery voltage with an inexpensive digital voltmeter while the engine is running. It must be between 13.75 and 14.75 volts. If it is closer to 12.6 volts, the generator isn't working.
