can't find the fuel filter on my neon where'd they put the thing???

spits and sputters when starting off. have to punch the accelerator to get the car to go. feels like it's not getting gas. tried gas treatment and fuel injection cleaner. changed spark plugs and that helped some. thought I'd change the fuel filter figured it suldn't hurt but can't find it. it's crazy, i've worked on quite a few vehicles and i've never not been able to locate and change the fuel filter
