2000 Chrysler Concorde Come Car Wont Into Park

Will it select park on the shifter but not hold? if so the pawl that locks the transmission has failed, these are not really a solid lock just a small leaver that catches the outer gear and holds it in place, they can fail on there own but can often fail if park is selected while still in motion, even only just rolling slowly.
