The car is a 2000 impala 3.4ltr. Heads were changed. New radiator and fan also. After the car ran 4 fifty miles I changed the oil and filter. Suddenly, the oil light blinks, but there is ok oil level. The car still runs great/ not hot, but the red low pressure light blinks. Is it possible that during the head job, I might have dropped debris(gasket material, silicone, etc.)That may have clogged the oil pump/ strainer? And if this is the case, how 2 drop the oil pan 2 clean?
I am a broke do it yourselfer with some experience, and this is the only car I use 4 my family.

I would recommend checking the oil pressure. You can do it with a mechanical gauge from the parts store. Also, if you hear no knocking or ticking, chances are the oil switch is bad and sending a bad signal to the gauge.

Let me know what you find.

Thanx! However, a parts store check is not an option. I live in on an island in The Bahamas. As the car is a daily necessity this will not work.
Can you tell me the best way 2 drop the oil pan with basic tools?

Also, there is no knocking or ticking. Where is the oil switch located?

If there is no noise, don't drop the pan until you check the sending unit. Chances are it is bad.
