2000 Chevrolet Blazer Repair Question

Chevrolet Blazer Battery Problem
I have a 2000 blazer and when I put it into 4wd auto the light will stay on a bit but when the tires start to slip only the rear wheels spin and the light goes back to 2wd. What can cause this?

Could that have to do with the vacuum actuator that is under the battery?
