Rack and pinion

I am replacing the rack and pinion assembly on my sienna, the new assembly is in place but I am having a hard time getting the steering U joint to slide onto the new assembly. What is the best way to reattach the steering linkage?

If you look under the dash, there may be a clamp on the intermediate shaft that when loosened, allows you to slide the shaft up the column a little. It may be using a master spline so it will only slide on in one position. It is very important that you do not allow the steering wheel to turn more than half a turn while disconnected or you will break the clockspring and has an Airbag light on when your finished.
