I'm sorry it might be a dumb question but I need help. What differences exist between a gear box in a manual transmission diesel engine toyota hiace 4x4 and a toyota hiace 4x2? Can one use a gear box for a 4x2 on a 4x4 without any problems?

There is a number of differences with these two transmissions, and they are not interchangeable, the 4x4 transmission has a transfer case attached to the rear this splits the drive to both front and rear diffs, the 2 wd has no front diff the transfer also has a reduction to select low ratio so they are quite different and not interchangeable at all.
