Engine won't run much past 3000 RPM

3.4 six engine auto transmission My car stutters and when trying to accelerate car bogs and rpm's head towards 3000 with no power. Any likely culprit?

Check fuel pressure and have the exhaust system checked, it could be a plugged catalytic converter
