when i was pumping gas my car turned off by its self in now wont start back up what can be wrong with it my car is a pontiac grand am

Your supposed to kill the engine when pumping gas. There are several possibilities, no spark--no fuel pressure-- security issue. That's where I would start.
Does it crank ok? Engine cranking, do you have spark at the plugs? To check for spark, pull a spark plug wire loose from spark plug, use a known good spark plug or spark tester in plug boot, ground metal part of tester to metal part of engine, engine cranking watch for spark.
