99 GRAND AM COOLANT SYSTEM NEEDS BURPED OR BLED

Car gets hot and coolant dumps out

Are you sure there isn't something causing it to overheat? Or, did you just replace the coolant?

myself, i think the thermostat won't open.but the chick who i'm trying to help is taking advice from too many friends at once. it gets hot and overflows

If the coolant hasn't just been replaced, then it doesn't need bled. Like you said, either a thermostat or plugged radiator.
