What tool do I use to remove the tensioner assembly on a 1999 Lincoln continental I tried the 40 torx socket but there was not enough space

Are you going through the inner fender to access the tensioner? If I recall, the PS fluid resivour and the degas bottle need removed to access the mounting bolts. Is that what is in your way?

All of that stuff is out of the way when I put the torx on the ratchet it will not go straight in
