1999 Lexus RX 300 electrical wiring

Were have hooked up a curt wiring harness for said vehicle, we have all the wires hooked up where they are supposed to be( left turn signal to left signal wire, etc.)Also hooked up a one piece wiring harness on utility trailer w/matching colored wires. Left turn signal works okay, when right turn signal is turned on, both turn signals flash like you had the 4way switch on. When you turn on running lights the right running looks bright as if you had your foot on the brake.

If I understand this you are hooking up wires to tow a trailer. Put a ground wire from car to trailer, should be a black wire to hook up through connector. Or the running light isn't grounding good.

When we hooked it up everything worked fine for a few minutes then we started having the problems with the right side turn signal and running light

Unless it's a body ecu problem it really sounds like aground wire or you have a wire hooked up wrong. There should be a ground wire from vehicle to trailer. Even in a 4 plug hook up one is ground usually black. Green /orange is for lights and green /red is for both turn signals /brake. On trailer it wil be green for left and yellow for right. If I remember lol been a while.

If it is an ecu problem, does that mean we have to get another computer for the car?

Only if the body module was screwed up. Then it would need to be replaced. Are you sure you have a good ground between trailer an d vehicle? That Is what it sounds like to me a bad ground.
