Is the 1999 Elantra Reliable, do you recomend this car as being a very reliable fairly cheap car to maintain?

Hi, I am in the process of buying a hyundai elantra 99 model, its done 90 000 miles, and I need to know if they are reliable and likely to give trouble after that level of millage, the car was owned by an elderly woman, full service history and no rust? She is the first owner of the car, and I will be the second. I have been told they are very good second hand cars t buy.

Please advise if you think its a good choice as a second hand car to buy as someones first car?

Kind Regards - Paul (South Africa)

At 90k I would change all the fluids and the timing belt. Then you have a base line for service.

It is very reliable and a good all around car.

No car is cheap to maintain. They all need servicing or they will cause you many headaches.

It is a great choice for a second car.
