1999 Gmc Sonoma After Coutless Items Been Tried Start This Vehicle Told Pull

After coutless items have been tried to start this vehicle, I was told pull the distributor and check it.

Looks fine with one oddity, It seems sloppy, if I just try to turn it, it seems to be sluggish, if I raise it , it spins freely. There seems to be about 1/8"+ play up down on the shaft. Is this normal?

This is normal, here is a diagram of a distributor pole piece that the pick up for injector uses. on yours there should be six pole pieces, Any one of them broken? Now for the test does the pole spin freely in the distributor shaft cause if it does its faulty,
