Ford Windstar Engine Problem

My wife just called me to jump start her 99 Windstar, the lights went hay wire, and nothing would work. I jumped it and drove it home in the dark, even the inside lights were just blinking on and off.

Suspect the charging system. Start by measuring the battery voltage with the engine off. If it's down to around 12.2 volts, it's okay but discharged. With the engine running it must be between 13.75 and 14.75 volts. If it is low, we need to do some tests on the generator.
