Did you ever check and see if the egr port was cloged up when you changed the valve?

Only checked the opening with my finger before attaching the new EGR. I assume that the intake would have to be removed to thoroughly remove the carbon deposits.

Some people have cleaned them without removing the intake depends how clogged they are.A easy way to see if its clogged is to remove the egr valve start the engine for a few secs the rpms should go up fast without touching the gas pedal and you should hear a loud exhaust leak. Are sure you have a code P1404?

I removed the EGR. When I tried to start the motor it did not rev up and in fact would not run without giving it gas and died imediately when I let off the gas.
