1999 Ford Ka Repair Question
Mileage: 85,000 miles.
My back lights on the car are not working. yet my brake lights and my hazard lihts are working. i have changed the fuses and the bulbs yet nothing is working. what could this be?
only my brake lights and hazard lights are working.
also my dashboard isnt illuminating when my lights are on.
Answer
The taillights are linked to the dash illumination and front combination lights. You have a fault with either the fuse, taillight relay, light switch or its wiring.
Have you checked the fuses?
i have changed all of the fuses and bulbs yet nothing is working.
You would need a test light or DVOM to test the power supply to the switch and output from switch to see which is causing the problem.
okay thankyou. if there is a problem with the 'switch' how much averagely would it cost to replace?
Sorry I am not able to provide any costing as prices ranges region to region and the best thing to do is to check at local parts stores for an accurate quote.
what is the name of this switch, just so i can investigate prices?
It is commonly called the multifunction switch.
