1999 Ford Focus Repair Question

Replaced brake dics but since doing this when breaking there is a grating sound
The grating sound when braking only starts when i am slowing down at a junction plus brakes a bit spoungy

Did you have the rotors machined? Did you clean and rust and scale from the pistons and calipers where they contact the backside of the pads?
