We had an oil leak dripping down through the valley coming out of the bottom of the motor. We narrowed it down to a leak on the bottom of the high pressure oil pump, we pulled the top of the oil res. And the fuel bowl and found the leak on one of the plugs we tightened it down and put everything back together once we got it running it idled for about 10 minutes so we were gonna test drive it but as soon as we put it in gear it died. We got it started again and and finally got it in gear when we pull out of the drive way and go into second gear the truck dies and now it wont start at all. What could cause this?

Recheck everything that you took apart, make sure every thing is connected, you where repairing an oil leak, how much oil leaked out, this engine uses oil pressure to operate injectors, check oil level, also any known codes? Also if you removed fuel filter housing, there is a fuel heater element in the bottom that could have knocked loose and shorted, check all fuses in engine compartment fuse box and interior fuse box.

I've checked and rechecked several times. The oil that leaked out was a pretty good steady stream of oil but after we fixed what we thought the problem was and ran the truck for the little while that we could get it to run the oil pressure was good and it didn't leak any oil so I think we got that problem fixed.I did notice on the back bottom of the fuel bowl there was a hose that wasn't connected is that the fuel heater element? And all the fuses were good that's what I checked this afternoon after doing some research.
