1999 Ford Explorer Repair Question

Ford Explorer Tool Problem
O/d off light flashes sometimes, trans. works very good, when the light flashes it will not go into overdrive,the push button on the shifter has no affect on it when it is flashing.

That is telling you that the Trans Control Module has monitored a malfunction and you need to have it scanned with a professional scan tool, not a code reader for the PCM but a scan tool that can read the TCM.
