Ford Escort Engine Problem
I have put a new engine in my escort van 18 diesel endura engine but im not sure of timing . a was told to lock the pump and top n bottom pullys then it was timed the timing belt was already on as it is new ish but needed to put my pump on it .so i did but couldnt find top lock hole so it was tdc pump was locked will this start?????

new ish??? what does this mean??? is the motor new or new to the car???
the timing must be perfect before trying to start it as engine may happen if it is not
