About a week ago I saw that my car was leaking oil pretty fast so I got under and looked and seen it was coming from the rear main seal. I pulled the pan ( a lot of work on a 4x4 durango ) and replaced the seal.
When I started the car afterward it is running a little rough so I take it out for a test run. The good news is that there is no more oil lead, the bad news is that if I push the throttle down hard it will surge a few times and try to stall. It was running good before I replaced the oil seal. I have spent a day and a half trying to find the problem, but I am stumped. Is this sort of thing common on the older Durangos? I have had this car for just over a year and have had no problems until now ( I don't count the oil leak as a real problem because a used car with that much mileage will have some small problems ).

Try cleaning throttle plate on both sides and iac hole with choke cleaner then check all connections of O2 sensors as they may have got disconnected. Also check your fuel pressure with a gauge.

OK, I pulled the throttle body off and cleaned it. There was some carbon build-up but not very much. I also disconnected both oxygen sensors and then plugged them back in. Did a test drive but no change. Thanx for the response, the throttle body would have needed to be cleaned sooner or later
anyway.

If it's still doing it then scan for codes and check fuel pressure with a gauge auto parts rent it. Also check for a vacuum leak
