engine doesn't heat up to temp enough to get heat on the highway. If I stop for a few min. it will start to heat then drops after I start moving. When idiling it heats slowly.

Try replacing the thermostat and see what happens and also check water pump operation-

Is the thermostat below the large radiator hose connected to the top of the block, middle passenger side?

3.7L, 4.7L At lower hose attachment. . 5.2l 5.9l upper hose attachment.
