Ill be driving and outta nowhere the tach drops to zero, the cruise control light kicks on, the engine retards and then quits within a few seconds. Sometimes it starts right up, others i have to try for an hour but as long as the crise light is on tje car wont start. Upon doing the on off on off trick with the key it gkves me the code P1684. My mechanics computer doesnt read any codes. It will never scew up when he has it. Just my luck. A friends $80 special says transmission sensor is malfuntioning. Could this be it?
