1999 Chevrolet Tahoe Had Engine 5 7 Vortec Rebuilt Now Note That Ses Light

I had my engine (5.7 vortec) rebuilt and now note that the SES light does not come on briefly when the key is turned to the on position. This SES light should come on and go off when starting the vehicle. My question is - Is there a fuse that the engine installer may have removed or a wire that they may have cut to avoid SES light being on constantly. I need to know this for vehicle inspection. The vehicle runs fine. Thank you.
