It's a 99 chevy silverado 1500 z71 and it stopped working while I was driving down the road the gas gauge doesnt read so I put approx 5 gal of gas in the tank and tried to start it. It does crank but is acting like it isn't getting any fuel is there maybe an anti-theft system acting up and if so how do I reset it

So does the engine crank no start?Is the security light on soild or flashing?

The starter is cranking but I don't get it to start and the security light is just flashing I'm not sure if it's the security system or if it's maybe vapor locked or something like that any help is appreciated it's my father Inlaws truck and he's goin to be home tonight

Sounds like the security system is keeping it from starting. Try the pass lock relearn I posted below and let me know what happens.
