i have a 99 chevy silverado 4x4. yesterday i went to apply the brakes and the pedal would not push and i had no brakes. any idea what could be wrong?

did you push real hard? it sounds like you have lost power assistance from the brake booster. it operates off engine vacuum. a hose carries the vacuum from engine intake to booster assembly. it's what the master cylinder is bolted to.
