99 chevy monte carlo 3.1l v6. The vehicle seems to be having issues with cooling the engine. As I accelerate, my engine temperature goes about 3/4's of the way up the guage, then seems to cool down. I noticed the heat doesnt work very well either, it does kick on after a while, but doesnt seem to be functioning right. At highway speeds the temperature will creep up again, and drop to normal operating temperature (1/4-1/3 the way up the guage) and at city speeds, it seems go a bit higher (3/4 up the guage) before it drops off. I have had this issue before with a different car of th same make, year and model. It cracked my headers and killed the car, I believe a thermostat was to blame. Any ideas?
